66. Has your turnover gone up this year?
올해 매출액이 증가했나요?
업무 출장(a business trip) 때는 미리 거래 기업의 직원과 연락을 해서 정보를 얻어두면 편리하다. "Has your turnover gone up this year?"(올해의 매출액은 늘어났습니까?), "Has your profits gone up?"(판매이익은 증가했나요?), What about the Japanese market?"(지금 일본 시장은 상황이 어떻습니까?) 등이 있다.
어떤 것이 증가하거나 오를 때 사용하는 표현이＇go up＇이다. "Prices have gone up again."(물가가 다시 올랐다.) "Everything went up in the budget except pensions."(연금을 제외하고는 모든 경비가 올랐다.) "My weight keeps going up although I try not to eat too much."(많이 먹지 않으려고 애쓰는데도 체중이 계속 늘어난다.) 반대로 내려갈 때는 ＇go down＇을 사용한다. "Eggs are going down (in price)."(달걀 값이 떨어지고 있다.) "The (value of the) dollar has gone down again.(달러화의 가치가 다시 떨어졌다.)
A: Hello. This is Kim from Joongang. I'd like some information about your company.
B: Fine. What would you like to know?
A: Well, I think it has been a successful year for you. Has your turnover gone up this year?
B: Yes, it has. It's increased by five percent.
A: Have your profits gone up too?
B: No, they've stayed at the same level.
A: 여보세요. 저는 중앙의 김입니다. 그쪽 회사에 대한 정보를 좀 얻고 싶은데요.
B: 좋습니다. 무엇을 알고 싶으세요?
A: 올해는 그쪽 회사에게 아주 성공적인 해였던 것 같은데요. 올해 매출액이 증가했나요?
B: 예.5 퍼센트 증가했습니다.
A: 판매이익도 증가했나요?
B: 아니오. 예년과 똑같은 수준에 머물렀습니다.
